im also gonna toss this in there, that might be a female. the strong coloring on the jaw is usually a trait that females have and not males.

Yes, its me, and I found spending time with cichlids in nature gave me an entirely different perspective on how I was keeping them in aquaria. Watching a small pair of JDs defend an area of 4ft X 4ft X 4ft, made me rethink the recommended, or "accepted" idea of the size of aquariums we keep cichlids in.

Yeah could definatley see that, I am a big fisherman and love everything about fish and just the whole underwater world and it is something to think about with the size of aquariums but on the other hand at least they are fed and get to relax their whole life if they are alone, it doesn't make up for it but at least it's a plus side

you could put the gravel in with the fish in there just do it slowly. little at a time.
