Lots of links were posted in this thread was just looking for the skinny on what happened with out having to read all of them..yup lazy

To me what they described in the second visit is pretty much what i see at most of the crappy lfs in my area smh. It doesnt teally say in detail what was wrong with the rabbits and bearded dragon in the first visit other than neglect.

Still feel like some people care more about animals than abused and starving children.

Everyone has their passions and causes.

I hear ya but from what ive seen in my life. People that scream and cry the loudest usually do the least on any given cause.

Apparently,not those HS wackos.
True. I think both RD and Wild Bill make good points though.

Did you catch the last thread about this subject..... got pretty interesting to say the least.

Yep I have to say I blew it on my title on this one.
I should have really read the position statement of the HS before I started. These nuts really could care less about people that animals. Still can't believe the city leaves these guys in control of animal issues. They state that they are basically against this cities 2 biggest attractions. Also state that they are against pet stores who sell exotic animals and maybe even ones that sell cats and dogs.
I hope people have read their position statement it explains where us exotic animal owners stand in the HS plan.

Ironically Frank, the Calgary HS first mandate in 1922 included the protection of children, homeless people, as well as animals. Today there are other organizations in place for children, and the homeless in Calgary and the surrounding area.

Bill, I have read the Calgary HS Statements of Position, and I happen to agree with most of it. Not all of it, but most of it. The majority of it does not read like a nut job wrote it, in fact I dare say that it reads just like I might write it for someone who I left in charge of my animals. While you focus on the few negative issues in their position on animal rights, I prefer to focus on the majority of positive positions.

And these are just their position statements, their beliefs as an organization. If I told you that I am not a fan of the rodeo (other than when I was single, because back then cowgirls were sexy hot) would that make me an animal rights activist nut job? If I told you that I would prefer to keep captive bred fish, reptiles etc, because I would rather not support the removal of animals from the wild, would that make me an animal rights activist nut job?

Thats interesting about the calgary HS.

If I told you that I would prefer to keep captive bred fish, reptiles etc, because I would rather not support the removal of animals from the wild, would that make me an animal rights activist nut job?

Add the running of the bulls to that list.
