Jag, Midevil, or other

I think he meant that you could keep an oscar in a 40 as far as water quality gors he could do wcs everyother day. I dont think any responsible hobbyist would advocate for that. But justarn is right someone might see that comment and think it was ok to do such a thing.

What about putting the fish you have in the 75 and figure out how to stock the 40 breeder. Probably add a mid size fancy pleco to the 75 too.

I wouldnt make the same mistake twice though. 75 would be a bit too small for a jag. If your heart is set on this then maybe look into a loisellei

I understand the 40g comment, I just mean I wouldn't personally choose an Oscar for his 75 either, I just find oscars are extra upkeep compared to other breeds unless they are in really big tanks.

Yup i agree. But im not touching the min requirements for an oscar with a 10 ft pole....been heavily debated.

bah!! come on jaws, tell us your thoughts on a oscars tank size. :p

Slate below is 12 inch by 24 inch roof slate.
Decide for yourself. What's a 40, 48 x 13 footprint!-)
75 is accepted as bare minimum, I say 90 myself, like jaws said let's leave this here.
Female jags can hit 16 inch, they have a load at Brighton public aquarium.

I agree on the 90, I love my Oscars, and would never put one in a 75,

got 3 oscars here, 2 in a 180, and little lutino in a 95g.

I'll bite....i kept my o in a 150 after it hit 6 inches. Probably wouldnt keep one in anything less than a 72x18 long term. For territory and water quality i prob would do less for the life of the fish

Probably not the amswer pops was looking for lol.

Again i never stated a 40 would be god for an O I didnt take op's comment literally. My fault cuz i guess no way to know if it was literal or not.

Putting on my kevlar vest as i type... i know i just pissed off some oscar owner

hahaha, pops (if i may talk in the third person) was not looking for any thing. a large tiger, i agree except should be a tall tank as well, all my fish in tall tanks. so not just back and forth, but up and down.
