Between my darling bride and four young children, this affliction helps me from loosing it. They all enjoy it, but it's all up to me... And that's a good thing.
Same.I would love to have such a collection but I keep spending my money on fishy stuff! LOL
buy him a 200+gallon and build a predator comm. Gar, polys etc.My hubby used to keep one JD in a 35 gal. years ago, I really hoped he would be more interested in the hobby, he got excited and picked out the electric blue acara and then immediately lost interest. He seems much more interested in predator type fish and a "less is more" attitude whereas I enjoy building a happy functioning community and watching them interact. Any ideas on how I pull him back into the excitement?
I just had a little 10 gallon when I met my husband, he is the one that got the bigger tank, I fear I may have taken it over in my excitement, and now he pays little if any attention to it at allSame.when I get spare money, its straight to the lfs.
My hubby started the hobby for us, and loves it just as much as I do - if not more.. He's done almost all the water changes and other "tankly duties" for over 5 years while I've been unhealthy, and without him, I wouldn't have any of my fish.. The only fish I have that he doesn't really care about are my goldfish, he feels that they're too expensive and get to big for tanks. He's stopped me from buying plants to put their tank because he felt it was costing to much, he also doesn't let me buy veggies for them unless we eat them as well, which sucks because they all love spinach and we don't eat itBut as much as he thinks they're a waste of money, he helps me with them anyway. I'm so glad that he loves the hobby.
I'm also glad that he has a level head and talks me out of spending money on tanks I can't accommodate for.

He loves to fish!!! what is in your NA preditor tank??? pics please!!!!buy him a 200+gallon and build a predator comm. Gar, polys etc.
OR get him something more active like some odoe pikes or tigers.
Does he go fishing? I'm an avid fisherman and let me tell you my north American native predator tank is my favorite by far. pickerel, crappie, bass, catfish....best tank I own, front and center in my living room for everyone to go....why do you have that? haha.
I have 2 grass pickerel, 2 black crappie, 3 pumpkinseed sunfish, a channel cat, a bullhead cat, and a coosae bass. The bass is the only "non Pennsylvania" native I have in there. If I remember when I get home I'll post a pic haha.He loves to fish!!! what is in your NA preditor tank??? pics please!!!!
My living room is now referred to by the family as the "fish room" actually the main reason I fell in love with the house- there is a separate formal living room right up front so it's the first thing you see coming in but away from the noise of the family. So far only convinced him into the one 75 gal. he is afraid any more will look tackybuy him a 200+gallon and build a predator comm. Gar, polys etc.

yup! there are some extraspecial circumstances with natives however so keep these in mind-when hes bored with the fish he can't release them again, and make sure to check your local laws pertaining to keeping natives in your state-PA is a free game state, any game fish can be caught and used as bait at any size so I'm free and clear-I don't know about Washington. My living room is now referred to by the family as the "fish room" actually the main reason I fell in love with the house- there is a separate formal living room right up front so it's the first thing you see coming in but away from the noise of the family.
