IN, MI, WI, IL, OH, MN, IA, MO, KY, TN meet?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Much more time and opportunities to hang out at a weekend event than a swap (which is over in a couple of hours).

My club (CCA) just held our annual "Big Fish Deal" event. It's an annual weekend of fish, friends and fun. Folks from many of the clubs in the area and adjoining states come together. And there was a even an MFK contingent from NJ that came down (and Joey and Li). It's a lot of work but it supports the club and the local fishkeeping community.

Oh okay been to both I thought you were just merely trying to get people to come to the swap events and not just the big event.

Yeah I heard about that! Thats true a bigger event is always better. Chicago needs to have some sort of MFK event for their own name. GCCA has like 60-70% god damn African cichlids for sale lol

That's true but why do that when we're our own club.

Even if we just went shop hopping a meet is still a meet that's ours.

Yea.... definitely trying to get an MFK event going. Something where we can bring in a wide array of wet pets small to monster for show or sale/trade. I almost feel like to get any attendance from MFK members there needs to be like "Hey! Free beer and food for MFK members!!!" The Mid-West just has no coherence. I personaly don't care for a giant meet containing just cichlids (except oscars.) I want to go to a convention and see a tank full of neon tetras and then walk to the other side pf the hall and see an Arapaima in all it's glory. Not into the species specific meet.

I'm a little late in joining this, but figured I'd throw in my thoughts. I'm in the Chicago burbs, about 15 mins from Schaumburg, so if a meet was happening there I'd make it in a heartbeat, or really anywhere in or around Chicago.

I also wouldn't mind seeing our own meet. I understand joining the GCCA or another group, however like others have said those meets are a little too focused for me. It may be a good place to start but eventually it would be cool to do our own thing. I've been to a couple GCCA meets in the past and just found them a bit dull. We have enough people in the midwest we could host our own event, assuming we got people interested.

I'm in Illinois would be cool to meet up with other monster fish folks everyone thinks I'm crazy when I want to talk tanks lol

Hey we could do a fishing tournament if anyone fishes turn it into a fry... or if unsuccessful a beer drink for those who drink

I am too busy, with work and lake okobogi summer vacation plans.
That's cool! I understand summer time can be very busy with family activities and work. Thank you for posting why you wouldn't/couldn't attend. If your schedule opens up though keep an eye out for a future mid-west meet!
