mid week water test results

nitrites still showing but not quite 0.1 so i'll do another WC tomorrow see how it it sits

well not much of an update after i chucked £300 at a couple of 150g i planned on moving the goonch into one (not a great set back as surface area is only an increase of about 4square ft) and them not fitting where i planned........

he still hitting pellets hard and a mix of other stuff. water is stable again, next check is tomorrow.

i did notice he is struggling to turn around in his cave so will look to change that at the weekend, but got the opportunity to get a rough measurement tonight and he is sitting around 8", so he was around 6" a month ago growth is not an issue lol. he has a nice thick tail and body set so all good on that front.

update,

water still sitting pretty, all seems well. i just wanted to put these two pics together to show the body shape change in 20days. he looks so much bulkier in the tank and no longer scared of coming out. he hitting pellets both carni and sinking catfish ( trying to veary his pellets to give me options).

anyway so on the 1st of march he was

well not much to update but to night he got brave and charged me while i was giving his tank a quick clean

I love how I saw this fish on the show river monsters, yet people are keeping them in their home aquarium...Lol

well its a three step plan lol,

next step will be a 150G tank, then i have a 230G shallow tank and finally ill build a 8x8x3 pool. but not sure how yet because i'm not sure i want a top view pond so thinking may be a acrylic tank on a metal stand but we will see.

well as the goonch approaches the 12" mark im noticing a massive increase in aggression hahaha.

first he tried to charge me while i was cleaning, but now he stepped it up a bit...

normally with all my other fish (and everyone know begging behaviour) when i approach the tanks they all come out and put the puppy dog eyes on and i get weak and give them a snack. the goonch is different he doesn't care what i'm doing around the tank he dosn't move unless he wants too, he dosn't come up to the surface for nothing, he sits in the flow and waits for food to come in range, unless its after a gap day when he will move our of hiding once the food has been in the water for a few seconds.

tonight when i picked up the food there was nothing, i got the pellets out on the top of tank and he was there splashing the surface, trying to get the food before it hit the water, so coming out of his shell now i think.

well still continuing to grow out in the tank and make a big presence in there.

had to move a few bits around and play with flow. also create a few more cave and platforms.

Nice Shane good to see its settled in now and feeding etc it'll soon be a beast
