Siutations where a 40BR > 55Gallon?

I prefer 40 breeder over 55....
They should of made the 55s ...48x18x15
A 21 inch height and only a 12 inch width is useless for 90% of fish

Not really on topic I suppose. But 40 breeders are actually 47 US gallons when full, so there's only a 8 gallon difference between it and a 55 gal.
I prefer the 40 tho. A lot easier to move around and the extra width is a huge plus in my book.

A very good point, I wasn't sure how many people actually noticed that besides myself....did the aquarium calculations years back and found out , but more recently I managed to get 35 gallons of water into my 30BR, so you actually get more bang for your buck w/ both Breeder tanks. I wonder if the 50g and 65g share this also
I guess it also depends on the person as well.....i know some people that keep their water level an inch or so below the black trim.....i prefer to fill it to the trim when not dealing with jumpers
i like my tanks FULL
Better viewing, plus for water quality, every little bit helps and I hate evaporation tooOnly downside to it is when they go after the floating pellets and foods and smack their faces on the tank lids
I would probably just get a 75 gal. Get length and the width. I know that's not the question, but if I'm trying to decide between a 55 or 40 I would end up buying a 75.
I too love 75 gals. Grwat for growing out larger fish and also food for the smaller growing ones
I'm just saying if I know I have enough space for the length of a 55 and the width of a 40, because thats the choices. I put it together and have a 75.
