Siutations where a 40BR > 55Gallon?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Even then I'd stick with the 55. It's less area but the 4' length is worth it in my opinion.

we did have a comment about the 40BR actually being 47 or 48 gallons, while the 30BR is around 35g, so you have a little more to play with than the manufacturer labels them. U might have to go back a page or 2 to find the posts about it
Then that's not really a 15 gallon difference now is it? May as well go back to the 135 120 gallon tanks as that's actually a volume difference of 15g

Actually it holds 44.49 gallons.

I would choose the 40 breeder, based on the larger footprint. But it depends a lot on what species of fish you wish to keep in it.
From the stingray point, a greater footprint is important. When my ray has pups, I put them in a 30 breeder tank. I would rather put them in this tank than a 55 gal.

It holds 47.7 gallons and if your going to use because of the glass thickness argument it still effects the 55 gallon with the same or a bigger ratio because it may even have thicker glass so either way we're looking at a 5 gal difference or so

Good point. Never thought about the glass thickness. Most of my fish spend their time looking out or facing the front of the tank. So i would go for the width
