Place was PACKED...I counted like 13 people fishing including us :( Damn catfish rolled with my hand in his mouth, cut me up pretty bad....it was like...actually bleeding lol Sandpaper-teeth, but thousands and sharp.....when he spun it was like a copper pipe-cutter on my hands. **** still hurts like a b*tch too

Stayed home for the first weekend since April, needed a little break lol, but I'll be back at it this weekend :).

Anyway, here's some local SWPA catches over the past week or so. Last week got 8 at the creek, then 33 at the local lake Saturday, and finally 16 back at the creek today. Suckers have finally started to cooperate and native stream Smallies are really picking up.

What species of sucker is that?

We have largescale and mountain suckers, but no one fishes intentionally for them.

Thanks guys :) it was just over 15lb nice fish gave me a decent fight , I had two other rods out baited up for carp (bigger baits in pva bags) they got left all day due to the spawning ,no one else caught on the lake either that day , but I got bored changed tactics and got a small 9ft stalking rod out , small method feeder with some pellet and groundbait mix bit of flavouring and a small hookable boillie as hook bait.
Bang even a spawning carp could resist lol he grabbed it on the chase after a female laying so it was a screaming take line flew off the reel.

They're Northern Hogsuckers. Also Whites in this creek but they're much less common for some reason (usually the opposite with NHSs being pretty rare and delicate species and Whites the most Common). I dream of taking a trip out West some day, all of those amazing, underfished Suckers, big Cyprinids, and awesome Trout and Salmon!

Caught my first American shad of the season today. They've been around for a couple of weeks now, just been too busy to get on the water. Going tomorrow after work:).
Lots of Atlantic sturgeon jumping too.
