Hello; This bit of information is abit of a suprise. However, I have listened to the gun control advocates for years and upon reflection this fits in with their way of thinking.
I know a fellow who is in favor of more restrictions and seems to think I am just being paranoid. An irony being that he has guns but feels the type he has will not ever be affected.
I don't think the problem so much lies in legal gun ownership, it lies within ILLEGAL guns in the hands of people who should not have them
So true but unless "they" can effectively remove the bad guys guns which they cant (not even allowed to stop and frisk) all they are essentially trying to do is remove the guns from the normal law abiding citizens.
This shooter could have easily used handguns or pipe bombs
When they banned guns in D.C. do you think magically all the guns disappeared and there were no more being used for crime?
I see your point but imo a ban on any one weapon is only a ban for law abiding people (for the most part) they only talk about bans but nothing about how to deal with illegal weapons.
More importantly they are trying their hardest to move this away from terrorism which to me is more alarming than anything.
I dont understand what the debate even is. I wonder what its going to take for people to really treat this for what it is....maybe when they start blowing up schools, maybe a major dam, or maybe another 911.
You are right jaws but boy this was the perfect action to push gun control. The guy says he is a terrorist and the media and politicians say no your a gun owning mass murderer. The public listens and says yes the pliticians are right. If we disarm everyone crime will disapear how niave are they.
This is all the big smoke screen. Every shooting this same discussion happens in this country. Nothing ever gets done no matter what side of the issue we are on. I dont fear the gvt taking away our right to bear arms as much as i fear what they ARENT doing.....protecting us from foreign threats.
278 posts on this thread and all valid but most of it about gun control...see we too are doing exactly what they want... making it about gun control not terrorism (me included ) we're all worried about president wanting to take away guns and not worried about what he's REALLY doing.
A u.s senator is trying to pass legislation that would allow the gvt to searh peoples web browsing history with out a warant. I bet most would complain and say "its infringement on my right to privacy" and it too will come to a vote and not pass.
Jaws they are watching what we do on the web any way now they want to make it look legal. Look at what happened in California with Apple. Apple really should have opened that phone. As they could have been hiding more terrorists from the FBI. The main thing is though that the internet is aiding terrorism more than we know. We have no protection on it any way with all the hackers and the gov. wathing us. The point we always have to worry aboit is how far they wil take these laws they put in. As I have said before these kinds of things open the doors for a government state. We have lost so much already and don't even know it.
