Most of seen the full body shot of the congi from her dive, but here's one with her next to it. What a Beastly Poly!

Jennifer O. Reynolds is a Senior Aquarium Biologist at the Vancouver Aquarium in BC, Canada. She wrote : 'Polypterus endlicheri congicus closeup the infamous "crocodile fish" of Lake Tanganyika. This fellow was often seem swimming away- just a quick dash of a tail followed by a cloud of muck. But on a couple of occasions it allowed itself to be examined quite thoroughly! This bichir is a facultative air-breather, and a primitive fish! I wonder how old this individual was. It was at least 1 meter long!'

That is unbelievable. Gives real sense of scale next to the diver. They must be super strong at his size-wonder how they wouldn't break the tank with a burst of speed. As for catching/holding them too...
