Should I keep trying to ban bowls?

I am still not sure if that is the right choice because I got a lot of hate on other forums because of my efforts. I don't want to go back to that. I just don't want to live in the past.

It seems like I used to be very interested in doing it, but that interest diminished. I feel bad not doing it. I am going to call tomorrow.
There ya go. See? Its all about how you feel and how much effort you're willing to put into it.. :)

How did you go about this? If I wanted to try this where I live, how would I go about it?

I started a petition and I probably didn't need to. I emailed the representative in my area and he didn't respond, but I got about 8 people to email him too and he responded with a phone number. Some people called me "that arrogant kid" for trying to ban bowls and I just don't want to go back to that. I am still indecisive.

You need a motto, I'll lend you some of mine if you want? "Screw what others say, who cares what they think, do what makes you happy." I live by that and have been rather happy ignoring negativity from others.
"The past is what builds us, learn from it and build yourself to be a better person" if you angered people in the past with this topic, ask yourself why, "was I to aggressive?" Are the people hating on you the sort of people that keep 5 comets in a 20ltr bowl? If so, ignore them because the only reason they don't want them banned is because it will mean they have to actually take care of their fish, in which case, screw them. If it helps you sleep at night trying to ban the bowl then by all means, do it. :)

On another goldfish forum a few people kept countering my argument why bowls should be banned and they were saying that what I was doing was turning people away from the hobby and that it was messed up. At the time I was Confident that what I was doing was right, but now I am questioning that.

I don't see how you're turning people away, aside from those that don't really care anyways. And if you do get it banned, and people still don't want to look after their fish, they can always buy a torture tank, no? :)

I just kind of have a bad feeling when I think about trying to ban bowls again. PArt of me wants to try again, but part of me wants to leave it in the past and get as far away from it as possible.

I hear ya. But you're only young, believe me when I say that any mistakes you make as a kid are basically wiped clean once you hit 22/23. I made many mistakes in my unguided childhood, made plenty of enemies but now that I've grown up people can see that I'm remorseful for my prior actions and all has been forgiven. Another thing I've realized is that a lot of adults don't like being outsmarted or shown up by a kid. No one listens when you're young. Even now at 23 I have trouble getting people to listen because they think I'm to young to have any life experience, but when my hubby (27) gives the exact same argument people listen.

Stupid question but would one of your parents be willing to be the "face" of the operation? If people think your parents (or just any adult for that matter) is the one leading the way they will be more likely to listen than what they will with a teenager or kid. :)

People listen to me just fine. I am just not sure if what i'm doing is right.
Well if its any consolation I think you're doing the right thing. So much in fact that I'm going to give it a try here. :)
