Originally, I wanted to build a shed for my fish. I have room for 2 more 40s and my 55 in the room I have my existing 2 40s in. Should I build a shed, or just set up the 55 and the 2 40s inside?

Build a shed, then pick dirt around the outside edges to stabilize tempature, adding some windows in the roof will give u some light.
If u set up a shed right it could make water changes easier, and with more light u can have some plants to filter your water

How easy will it be for you to run power to your shed? Water spigot? Heat/AC available? I'm sure you've thought that through already but if you don't have outlets/power for the shed it might be easier to just make your indoor room your "fish room". You'll be more likely to do your weekly maintenance if it's in your house as opposed to in a shed outside the house.

Adding electrical jargon into a shed would involve a licensed electrician. At least where I am from. And running an extension corday not be the most practical ;)

Alot of things to consider. Specially if you have a $1,500 fish.

I don't have a 1500 dollar fish. It would be much harder to add a room to the house than to build a shed. I am not going to run an extension cord. I am going to run 2 20 amp lines from the house. I don't need an electrician to do it because I am going to be running it off of the house's circuit breaker box, not adding a new one just for the shed.

If you can have it plumbed also, and you are adding needed space go for it. I'm not at my final living space yet but when I move to the country I intend to build a fish building. A place that will house more and bigger tanks (hopefully one massive tank among them) Whatever you do plan it well. Some things that I intend to consider are water source and drainage for a drip water change system, easy to maintain filtration, and enough room and comfort to hang out and enjoy your fish.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but with the way you keep saying you get bored of your fish every few months etc, and how you have had more than one thread on neglecting your fish due to your own personal reasons, i would say a fish shed may not be the best idea at the moment, unless you, yourself are sure you are 100% ready to keep up with the responsibilities of your fish long term?
