What is meant by "coarse" fish?

Here in the uk and ireland our native freshwater fish that aren't game fish are referred to as 'coarse' fish. Perch, pike, roach, chub, tench, bream, rudd, barbel and carp are typically the main ones. They all survive very well in the coldest winter temps. Thats why the introduction of non native fish isn't much of a concern for us. I'd like to see a snakehead for example thrive in our waters. If they could our fish populations would be decimated, and then we'd have the powers that be banning everything that swims, just like in the states.

ROACH?!?!?!? Here in the uk the roach is all over the place, it's one of the most popular coarse fish. The record is between 4 and 5lb so it dosen't grow that big. It's peaceful and doesn't eat other fish. Who the hell makes these rules, they must be on drugs. No wonder you guys go mad about what fish you may or may not keep.

probably the same reason Fish and Game don't allow transportation of Carp, Koi and Goldfish from one body of water to another,......they constantly roots through the bottom, stir up all the mud and silt and it/they takes the oxygen out of the water and all the oxygen-producing aquatic planst die off and it kills the entire ecosystem

"Rough" fishes - basically anything that is NOT a gamefish or sought-after food-fish

Lot of people use goldfish as a bait illegally and not lot of states that allowed goldfish as a baitfish.

you can still use Rosy Reds.....they are just a color variant of a Fathead minnow, but they stick out like a sore-thumb to predatory fish

In NY, the pet store is supposed to inform you about koi, goldfish and certain plants as invasive before you purchase them.

@moneybike that is probably more effective than any ban.
I notice that people who find out there new fish is illegal r more likely to dump it in a lake than if that same fish were legal.

if you just hit the "Reply" button on someone's post you'd like to address, you wouldn't have to worry about typing in their screen-name correctly.....it still gives an alert either way....I get alerts for "likes", "Mentions" and "Quotes".....I assume most members choose this since it is the most effective and efficient method for alert preferences.

I know you said you don't like CPUs very much, hope this helps a little cuz I don't like CPUs either.
