bad habits while working on tanks??

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My hubby is terrible for this! He's cracked a little 40ltr before by dropping the water level, not turning the heaters off, then getting distracted.

The heat from the heaters combined with cold glass doesn't end well. You hear "CRACKBANGWOOSH" and there's water on the floor and fish everywhere.. Not good, and not fun to clean up.

He also messes around with the electrical outlets with wet hands, he hasn't been shocked by it YET, but I'm guna laugh when he does (given it doesn't seriously hurt him) and give him the most smart ath "I told you so" that ever was told. :D

I have a terrible habit of forgetting to dose prime until the tanks ¼ of the way full, thankfully I don't keep any extremely sensitive fish and no ones been hurt by it - yet...

I never add my water conditioner until the tank is completely full, turn on the power heads and let it circulate then turn on my filters 5 minutes later, always done it this way with stingrays, eels, knives and other sensitive fish, won't harm them in the length of time it takes to fill the tank

I add it in beforehand and just fill. or add it bucket by bucket since i cant use a python

It's probably not a bad habit depending on how you see it, but I tend to not leave my tanks alone; I.e. excessive cleaning, water changes etc...even my girlfriend tells me to leave it the hell alone haha

Similar for me and my knifefish lol, keep that tank tip top the whole time lol. But its a while till my girlfriend can complain about it, and im sure she wouldn't mind it if we ever end up living together

Lol let me give you a tip in advance, never start doing fish tank stuff; when she's sitting on the couch expecting to cuddle up with a movie :P

Not that im talking from experience...;)

I choose D. All of the above. Overflowing tanks and leaving heaters plugged in is my specialty though.

Hahahah. I wouldn't do maintenance when she is around lol. At least she loves fish as well :D

Also another thing, dont leave a tank with a pink tail open too long, they jump like a rocket

LOL! Now I understand all the posts about failed or failing heaters, with all the posts about leaving them powered-up during WCs! That'll kill'em quick. Surprised at the reports of leaving filters running too. All of mine would loose prime anyway at the volumes of water that I change out. Everything gets turned of but the lights (on timers) for me.

I like to smoke what the kids call them left handed cigarettes and let's just say I've started watching a game or a tv show and forgot I was even doing a water change in the first place until I hear a a loud filter grinding noise.
The devil's lettuce will get ya...

good grief, you guys are dumb LMAO!!!!!! If you do something enough times it becomes muscle memory and you naturally unplug things BEFORE starting the WC haha Besides, heaters are supposed to be unplugged 15 minutes before taking them in or out of water so they can be at room temperature. I don't mean to be a douche, but I can't help but laugh at this stuff - that's not being very smart or aware.
