out of festae, jaggy jag, or midevil. Don't hate me for this post, I want to know your opinions as I can't decide which of these to get as I'm setting up a new 6x2x2 and I want a really "personable fish" that when i walk past the tank he/her wants to kill me. I wouldn't mind keeping a festae pair either. i know all these fish can be nasty and from my experience jags are not always necessarily glass bangers as much as say a red devil (obviously) and Red Devils/Midas (I'm in Australia so basically all are midevils) have more personality IMO. BUT, jags are a lot predatory IMO then a Midas and I enjoy watching them (I guess you could say analyse) wait in the shadows, glaring at other tank mates, waiting to pounce. And I know not all of you agree on this but I do enjoy watching him inhale live fish occasionally (and yes,I do breed them myself, they're guppies). Whereas a Midas/red devil is a lot more 'in your face' (which is what I want). Then this is where festae come in. I've never kept them befor, but I've heard mixed views in them. Firstly they look AWESOME , there lean, mean and hungry for food (What rhymes with mean and is a food?). So that leaves me stuck. Ok I guess what I want is something glassbanging, personalable and somewhat predatory. ONLY from the stated above, yes I would love an rtm or haitiensis but they ain't in Australia....yet. Unless someone has a suggestion that fits all the above boxes and will work in a 180gal. And don't do hating on me saying that there's tonnes of posts like this because.... yeah just cause.

I loved my old Jag, savage glass banger. Tons of personality and mean as the day is long... As in I have scars from cleaning his tank. I also LOVE my f1 midas. He is a savage, but still only a adolescent

I think festae are out of the picture as far as a glass banger that wants to kill you. I currently have 2 pairs and a couple lone males I have been keeping over the years along with a bunch of 3"/4" growouts currently. They are not glass bangers by any means but they arent scared or timid when you approach either. I have one male that spends a good portion of his day flairing up at his reflection and chasing himself but once you approach his tank he calms down and wants food. When they are spawning they will become "glass bangers" but I dont harass them just to get them worked up. I think festae get their bad reputation as being "terrors" toward other fish as they dont like company. They will sometimes get tired of one another as well if you dont have enough decor for them to get away from one another. In my opinion they arent the personable fish that is going to chase you around the tank as you walk by.

My F1's have been consistently nasty but my pet shop variety have been hit or miss. Just my experiences. I like both, but jags are my favorite out of everything I've kept.

Dovii lol

no, j/k.....o f the choices, any male Amphilophus, by FAR
Haha I would love a dovii but don't have the tank space currently, maybe in the future though lol. Thanks

Of the fish listed I would say Jaguar.

Yeah ok I'm starting to lean towards a jag

Oh ok, I completely thought different, thanks I'll take that into consideration lol

Still a possibility, thanks

Does glass banger count if it's the kids trying to hit the tank to scare the fish? Still working on them to get out of that habit (thankfully it's the small tank) but there's a few scratches that just won't go away.

Thankfully they are more mesmerized by the stingray tank so they just watch that one rather than trying to get the fish's attention
