Yeah. I think the difference are simply varied by genetics because the differences are not significant enough to be from another region.
As for the "kayo", it was a name given by one of the vendors who brought in Congicus back in like 2010 or so. Those Congicus came from Lac Kayo(Lake). No idea where the typical Congicus we get come from but they don't look any di
ifferent from the Kayo Congicus IMO.

It was imported by Fugupuff and Toyin at the time. The collection tag was attached to this lake kayo, republic of congo.

Yes, just a week difference, we got the same size, and i believe your first one was the same batch as me and hao.

Yup but the first set of pics arent

One of the points I brought up earlier. It's just one of the species that are so similar wherever caught. Our demands for a collection tag of the river or region wasn't sought after.

Congicus have generically been a Congo river caught specie along the Republic of Congo. I suspect it's more likely caught in the many tributaries or lakes from this vast river.

Yes, it was promoted around 2009-2010. They were thought to have a specific larger sized head and shape. But this wasn't true. Beleive it was randomn.

Ive always found this to be an interesting comment. Look at post #15

Not sure if true about them being sold as the other but interesting nonetheless

This was a time when the importation for the Koliba batches were mixed and not consistent with prior shipments. Experienced Poly Keepers were extremely skeptical. The differences are enough to differentiate the two hence how the Koloton label was created. I'm not positive who assigned the name Koloton.

I did find a river in Guinea called Koulountou river. Sounds like the closest thing to Koloton.
