  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Was just doing a WC and caught a couple pics of my little fatty. I got him at less than an inch and he is probably 4" TL now.

Kittiee Katt Kittiee Katt

He's awesome! He looks like a mix of Felix and Salem with his colours. And he's quite a chubby little guy isn't he? :P

Mine aren't that big yet, I'd guestimate around 2" somewhere, still babies and so cute!!! :D

Yeah he's quite the fatty, it was way worse than that. Looked like a gulper cat after a meal when I took down my 110.
Hahaha seeing him makes me think that maybe I'm not feeding mine properly... They only look that fat after a big meal... Kind of like this:

This is Salem. He has a perfect little leopard spot in the center of his face, I'm yet to get a picture of him front on yet.

Update! Things are (very slowly) coming along, catfish are in their permanent home and the tank that will eventually become their "biotope". We got a little cichlid so the catfish no longer get the 4x2x2' instead they get a 4' 250ltr, not quite as awesome as the big one but still big enough for them to be happy.

They absolutely love their new 4' tank and come out heaps more since going in there. The only problem is that the wood I originally had for their tank doesn't fit in the smaller 4' properly, I mean it fits but only one way so I'm going to have to spend a small fortune on more wood for it but thats okay, I found out a LFS near me does lay bys with three months to pay it off so I'm sure I can work something out.

The catfish are still sharing their tank with other non African fish for the time being but I should have most of them out within the month.

Anyway, some pics, tank:

That looks awesome. Maybe try and collect more rocks and make formations of that rather than wood. I think you have enough wood already :)

The big piece of wood on the right is coming out once I get some to replace it with. It doesn't fit in the tank any other way than that and there's still 2-3" of it poking out the top lol

The scape was just thrown together (hence the extremely unnatural looking way the wood on the left is sitting) to give everyone enough hiding spots since most of the tanks residents spend all day hidden  it will be re-scaped once I've got more stuff to scape it with.

I plan on getting more tigers eye for it and if I can find some nice greyish rock maybe something like that too but I'm a little limited by what stuff here costs, those two rocks in there cost me almost $30 so it may take a while lol

that's exactly my 1st thought when I looked at it

Why don't you just go collect your own from Nature and save the $$$ for other stuff?????????????? I NEVER pay money for décor, it's a waste of cash. Stuff you obtain yourself from the wild looks much more natural anyway. PVC pipes are the only thing I buy because I haven't found a good spot in the wild to find them :D

I'm going to collect river rocks as well.

Get a butterfly too. Awesome fish (Until they go off food, die and get half eaten while you are at school with 10ppm nitrate. I am wondering what happened :()

damn, your Butterfly fish died?
Yep. Looked for 4 months for a healthy looking specimin. Paid 5 dollars for a 2" fish and put him through QT, ate well (including 2 of my danios) and was fine in the 70. fairly active at times and nobody bothered him. In the past week he went on and off food and wouldn't eat before school and when I came home he was dead. Now I need to look for another one after I get floating plants
