Any Bonsai tree Keepers?

Very nice Vil. I thought you moved to Northern Cali. Rain this past few days in San Diego has been crazy. Not to mention the jumper on the bridge which shut I5 down. Luckily I had a full tank of gas in the Camaro. 2 hours to get home. Storm is suppose to last till Tuesday.
I'm a Bonsai keeper that lost interest and that is why they look the way they are. Not by choice. It's this thread that has sparked some interest again. My son still remembers the two dogs you were trying to bonsai....haha.

Thanks Ken. I did move to Fresno and became a zookeeper up there. One of the reptile keepers up there got me into bonsai. Now I'm back in San Diego with my girlfriend (long distance sucked).

It's funny you're boy still remembers the dogs. That was 6 years ago. The big guy was a foster dog and he's living it up somewhere in Vista now. The little dog was mine and he's still around, 12 years old now. Since his mom's a Vet, i'm hoping for 12 more years. haha.

Let me know if you need help cleaning those trees up. I'm always looking to learn more about bonsai. Thinking about joining the SD Bonsai Club.

Just now noticed this thread. Very cool to see there are other bonsai keepers here. I myself am a big bonsai keeper as well. Got into it about 5-6 years ago with one little tree and now have around 18-20 of them. Mostly willow leaf ficus, Benjamin ficus, some ***ien tea's, an azalea, a yew, a dwarf spruce forest, boxwood and a few others. Turned my backyard into a bonsai garden a few years back with monkey poles for all my trees and koi pond etc etc. I'll dig up some pics later and post of my bonsai garden from last summer, I should have some pics somewhere on the computer once I have time to look for them.

Outstanding.Looking forward to seeing your photos.

Found some of my pics of my backyard bonsai garden from this past summer. Right now all my tropical trees are inside under lights for the cold protection, and my temperate trees are in cold storage in the shed out back. Usually take them all back out to the garden about mid April once the weather breaks for the spring/summer. The very last pic is my Cypress bonsai which is one of my favorites. It was about twice the height it currently is when I bought it a few years ago and have been pruning and training it for the past 2 years now.

This is a before and after of a ficus forest I have been working on for the past year. This pic here is when a good friends Dad gave it to me before he went into an assisted living home back in April of 2016.....

And this is it today after a year of pruning and training. Still have a lot of leaf reduction to work on as well as trunk thickening to come but it's started down the right path now.

My koi pong which is home to about a half dozen koi at the moment. Thinking about increasing the pond size by about 3xtimes this size in the spring.
