300 gallon setup/sump build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Got the sand and some decor in the tank. Just a some decent sized rocks and a few plants nothing fancy. If it were up to me there would only be 1 or 2 rocks and call it a day. I met the wife half way and added some fake plants that willrobably get torn up and moved around anyway.

Sump is pretty much done besides getting the floating plants in and making the pen. Hoping that my ac110 (purigen and poret foam) will fit on the lip of the sump but im doubtful.

Not sure of the best heter/probe placement so any advice is welcomed.

Chris added a strip of black acrylic down the back side panels to hide the cut portions of the backround i likey

Heaters in between the pumps, heat receptacle on either side of the sock would be how I do it. Assuming it's all one middle chamber.

Cool i want everything out front but i think i can get them right at the edges of the pond boxes on the front of the sump

look into laguna pond pumps, good price and good wattage too
Thx for the suggestion but im good on the pumps. Two dct12000's

Ideally you want them upstream from heaters, in the same compartment. If the pumps produced a lot of heat you might want the heaters further away, but I don't really think it would be an issue.

Looking pretty sweet frank. Polys are gunna love that

Thx man. Sorry i didnt get to test out the 2 gates. Had i stuck to my original plan we would have been able to test both methods but adding the two inch bulkhead and not choosing its placement correctly kind of killed that idea.

I would imagine it would still be fine going either way. I thought there would be more tinkering regarding the water level in the overflow but the system is soo quiet it really hasnt mattered much. Still way early to tell though

Man, I'm might be unpopular, but close your valves, drain your sump and get something to catch water under it. Seriously. Also, re-design the plumbing so you can pull the sump out when you need to. I feel like the plumbing could be significantly simplified as well. I know you are crazy excited, but.....please take a day and do this part with the future in mind.
