I personally think so. You thinking of them for your son's tank? Go for it!

I really don't do anything magic and these things go crazy in my tank, so I think they're a good plant for people with limited experience. I am as low tech as you can get. I literally just give 12 hrs light (on a timer), do Flourish 1x/wk and root tabs 3-4x/year and I have to prune these guys back constantly.

So basiclly its the same connecting piece as the water lettuce but its going to be under the sand.

Yes, the same however it does pop out of the sand sometimes. You'll see a baby plant, and sometimes you'll see the runner or not, but it WILL have a runner. And you'll need to cut them with scissors - I've tried to rip them off with fingers and long tongs and it doesn't work well.

I do like grass like plants, i tried it with LJ but it didnt work, UJ dont go crazy like LJ so i wanna try it in my sons tank.

It uproots a lot for the first week or so, then it's good. Mine also shed a lot of leaves but new ones are growing

Here is a runner - look below the rope fish, sticking out to the right of the base of the plant they're hanging out in. There was a baby plant attached to this that I cut off.


I have a baby one growing in the front of my tank now, later tonight when I get home I will pull it out for you and show you what I mean.

True, it can want to come out of the sustrate initially - you may need to put something there like a small rock until it is more secure, but once it's settled it's solid.

Mag u using a grow light or reg lighr for the vals ? I have a decent grow light for the WL its large enough to cover most of the 150 so maybe i'll give some vals a try
