Mine go apeshit over the silversides. Since I only have small UJs I figure why not use these vs. tilapia - it's the entire fish so must be good for them. I do rinse them quite a bit first though since they're kind of oily, and that helps get some of the goo out too, because I have to chop them into small bits for mine.
I get mine at the LFS but I bet the ones you got are way cheaper. I didn't know they sold them as bait! Makes sense - you could certainly catch a poly with one.![]()

Does the "not for human consumption" warning really mean anything? If you look at most pellets and medications they say something like "not for fish intended for human consumption." I'm pretty sure it's more of a liability thing on their end. Not saying that you shouldn't be cautious, but that warning seems to be on everything in this hobbyLooks good, only caution is with the not for human consumption part. Some fish baits can have salts or preservatives added to keep them firmer on the hook. The fact that these are frozen likely make them ok. Sounds crude but give them a good smell when thawd to see if there is a chemical smell and a quick taste to see if they are salty![]()
the human consumption warning is a liability coverage tactic, has nothing to do with them actually being edible or not, you are correct.J jaws7777 yeah that's a nice mix, would love to grab one of those at some point.
