Udon, Soba, and the Noodles

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm gonna go with one still and a cteno when i can find one probably. I simply can't afford a group of polys or ropefish unless you guys can sponsor some :p

On a more serious note I want to add the new poly when I add sand and rearrange the tank so hopefully any territorial issues are diffused. If not I can rehome and get some ropes :)

It should be within the next 2 months while nibblet is a small lil noodle still. These polys are between 4-6" so his size or larger. Should it be an issue?

Watch the ctenopoma when you get it.....they will eat any thing it can get its mouth on. Don't get me wrong I love mine but lets just say I need to be careful.

Only a full size adult will be able to chow anything in the tank. Just waiting on importer to get some
That sounds similar in size enough IMO
Alright. I seriously can't afford to get more so I'm hoping 2 similar sized polys of a more placid species will work

It's been a week now. Ziti is notably more comfortable as time passes. Has been a bit more slow to warm up than the others but at the same time isn't skittish when I move around or take photos or anything like that, even right up in his face, so that's all good.

Tonight I'll try pellets.

Video - was supposed to be of the Teug, but Polli makes an appearance and I comment on how fat she is. I hope she doesn't become like DMD123 DMD123 's Fatty Teugalatti! (Also a quick cameo of Mr. Moke.)

Also, random side note..... I have one last white tipped tetra (pink) and you can see it is kind of also making lots of cameos. These are cool tetras. More interactive and food beggars than other tetras I've owned... They follow you around. I really recommend them. Way more so than the congos, which are pretty and large but there's little personality there. I took a few videos and he was in every single one. LOL

Teugelsi is gorgeous and that polli is a fatty nice update

I was thinking that some rope fish might be nice to Hendre's tank... do you think that "counts" when it comes to polys?

I don't know, Polyaddict. I have read recommendations of the same by you and a couple of others. But at the same time most of the people recommending that have like 8 or 18 polys LOL. It's not that I don't trust you, and I certainly don't have much Poly experience, but many fish "rules" outside of tank size are just cautionary guidelines.

Kind of like with Bettas - people always ask: can they live with other fish or shrimp? Some would say no, not worth trying. Others would say it depends on the fish - you have to try it and be ready to quickly go to plan B should things change. I've had multiple Bettas that could live with other fish, 2 that could live with shrimp, and my current one can only live with a snail. :)

-I think individual fish temperament is huge.
-I do appreciate Hendre not wanting to overstock, yet wanting more polys.
-I don't see the harm in trying to add one more and see how it goes.... if it doesn't work he decides whether to add more or rehome one fish.

Like I said, my Palmas was such a jerk I really don't know if having one more fish, with a count of 3 total, would have fixed the situation.

Curious to hear what others think and their experiences either way.
Yeah that Palmas was a meanie. I think you made the right decision. I wouldn't have wanted to deal with poor Udon being picked on either. And you never know if the aggression would have fully gone away. It always sucks to rehome a fish, but you never know what personalities you are gonna get. Totally understand being picky about your stock and not wanting to overstock. It's not for everybody. I really like how you have several different species in your tank :)

Ziti! Look at that yellow belly. She seems to be having fun playing in the plants :) That's great that she's warming up and posing for the camera. What a natural!
