Hypsophrys nicaraguensis

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Some other options would be firemouths or nanoluteus. You wont have room for dempseys in a 200l with a pair of nics. Maybe if you did a 285 liter you could do one Dempsey with them
best of luck

I agree, with Gourami Swami, if Rainbow cichlids are available where you are, they would make a good (non-aggressive) choice.
Not Rocio, they may be too aggressive.

duanes, Gourami Swami gyus thank you very much for you advises and your time i'll try to do all of your suggestions.
Gourami Swami what is the fish on your account photo?

Hi Guys! i am here again... with the same question but i have now 300 litters.
The question is what i can add to nicaraguans?
Firemouth is not a good for me.. Eliottis too what about Rainbow vieja?
or possibly some of the geophaguses?
Any suggestions?
Thank you in advance!

300 liters is @ 80 gallons, and would only work temporarily for Vieja as a grow out tank. Although I'm not sure what species rainbow Vieja is, but all Vieja I've kept need more that 100 gallons as adults (preferably much more) especially if kept with other species of cichlids. Even the most mild mannered Vieja get aggressive when kept in too small a tank.
Some Geophagines might work, depending on your tap water chemistry.
Geophagus crassiblabrus, steinachneri, and pelligrini are found in the harder waters west of the Andes, which is similar to the water nicaraguensee inhabit.
If by rainbow Vieja you mean V breidhori, melanura, bifasciata, or others of that size, a minimum 600 liter tank would be more apropos as adults.
bifasciata

breidhori

young melanura
