From what ive read and seen about bolts om rhinking this will be one of those fish that gets named and coveted...so if a vulture bit him in half or a trachy made it disappear it would of course be my fault hahah
Lol, Personal attachment has saved my Trachys numerous times but the attachment was always mine. My ex only showed interest in Rose Queens and Red Devils other then that she could care less. The rest of the family just weren't interested except for my cousins and Uncles.
Currently only my Trachys are named and my Ingot female. All the other fish I just call them by their scientific name when scolding or talking to them. lol Like hey Zebrina what the heck man let the Scat get some food bro.
As for your Pearsei, man I don't know; I've heard they're the Casanova's of the cichlid world. Dude might be trying to woo your wife.![]()
Probably will, bolts IMO are sweet looking cats. Between that and their activity I'm sure he'll be a fam fave. I personally think the Bolt will be okay with the Trachys and Vulture though. My Trachys have never targeted another cat as far as I know. The only driftwood that I know that targeted a cat was my Gulper who ate my ID Shark. And at the time the Gulper was smaller then the Trachys and they never made a move on the ID or the Lei Aro the Gulper also ate on me or the, well never mind the list isn't short on the Gulpers hit list.
Lol, I know how you feel. I got into Ingots because I wanted a thick arse cichlid complete with Nuchal bump but with low aggression. So far I'm not seeing any less aggression then many CA/SA cichlids. Dude chases the pikes and the Trachys and I've intervened regularly to try and break him of it and he just don't give a dang.Man the pearsei is just a jerk, cant be kept with other cichlids doesnt mess with other species unless theres food involved but wont touch meaty foods like tilapia so thats whats saved him. Never bothered the polys but their slow eating habbits mixed with his endless appetite = him getting kicked out and put in his own tank. Im thinking these cats will be able to get to the food in no time.
Just sent ray a message about the trachy so lets see.
So the vultures are at 4 inches and 6-7 while the bolts at 5, im thinking it would be better to go with the smaller sized vultures....thoughts ?

Yeah, the cats will definitely be quick on the food. They're not like Polys who IME move like they're in slow mo when it comes to food. Those cat species are all fast and furious even compared to cichlids. You'll see them rush to the seen and the start twisting and turning on a dime like mini cyclones to get every morsel of food they can.
Cool, can you give me a heads up on how many he has. I meant to get one from him but by I got side tracked chasing other fish and forgot.
Edit: I definitely fo with the smaller Vultures. IME they grow quick and while Bolts supposedly do as well, because of how fast my Vultures grew I'd personally err on getting them smaller then the Bolt.
Lol, it is weird. It's like woodcats belong to a secret order or something.Feeding isn't too bad. End up feeding twice with the polys. I do it before the lights go out.
Feed first and my trachy comes out and inhales everything. It goes back to its hiding spot and then I feed again. The polys are able to eat. The trachy doesn't come out the 2nd time.
I have a jag, false jag, and very small
Pseudauchenipterus nodosus with the trachy. The trachy will swim but will leave alone. The cats will squeeze in next to the trachy near the face and nothing happens. So likekoltsixx said there's a invisible understanding lol.
Sorry to hear jaws. You where going to get your Bolt/Torosus from Predatory Fins here right? If so he has a Driftwood cat listed at 10 inches for $250 that maybe a Trachy. I've never seen any other driftwood offered around those sizes except Trachys. I was actually thinking about asking for myself.Ray said he sold out

And man you are lucky. My Trachys always come out for food. If I drop food they come out and eat and if I wait till they're done and return to their hides and try to feed again they come right out again. lol They'll eat till they puke and then eat some more. The cichlids always do a decent job of competing with them but my Tiger Scat, Tropical Gar and Pim Albofasciatus have a hard time keeping up so I always feed them by hand.
