I'd also like to state that I'm extremely jealous of all you Haitiensis keepers, what a fish. Almost debating selling my Oscura Heterospilus and JD's for some, the struggle is real.
Wow, I'm not sure why they are beautiful fish. I don't see anyone local keeping them and never seen them in any lfs. If I had I would already have a pair lol. Possibly the bloat issue from stress might have given them a bad rep? And no tankmates people are usually not fond of that.I find the interest in them funny.
When I had haitiensus fry, I had a hard time giving them away.
I was taking bags of fry to gcca meetings and giving the bags to whoever would take them. A few years latter, a guy that took a number of them from me, put his mated pair, and lots of fry up for our local auction.
The mated pair went for @ $10, and bags of 10 fry were going for $1 each
Really wish I would have went to the auctions back then hahahI find the interest in them funny.

That is the ideal goal if you're going to try to sell the offspring. If you're wanting to just keep a pair for yourself and don't plan to sell the offspring then it doesn't matter if they're related or not. Typically only after many courses of inbreeding do you get deformed fry and even then they're usually pretty easy to spot at the 1.5-" markIt's best to get fry from different parents in hoes for a pair right? Would it be better to order like 3 from one place and then 3 others from another place rather than ordering 6 from the same place and hoping for a pair?
