Firemounths are not really considered predators, they are omnivores.
Maybe your opening post is the problem, because you specified predator, and in reality, most (at least a good portion) cichlids are "not" strict predators.

That's just because you think cichlids come from the Americas
The entire lamprologus complex (lepidolamprologus, Altolamprologus, Neolamprologus etc.) and many of the Malawi haps, and many others are predators.
Even in the Americas, there are the cichla and crencichla.
I'm not specifying a continent, just commenting on the Firemouth as being considered a predator.
I have kept Lepdiolamprolines and many Rift Lake Africans, and including snail eating Madagascan and vegetarian Indian cichlids, and of course there are a number predators. But in comparison, there are many more that would not be considered strictly predatory species.
Any photos I have posted, are cichlids I have kept.
Lepidiolamprologus elongates above, and below a mini predator from Lake Barumbi mbu below, Stomatepia pindu
I have decided on altolamprologus calvus as my cichlid of choice, I had just seen them at my LFS and immediately remembered they were a good-sized predatory cichlid!
