Sorry I haven't posted much recently just been really busy with work and watching my poly's grow out. So yesterday I did something bad. I came across another poly type which I haven't seen available in Australia before so of course I had to have them lol. Any idea's which type I am referring to? As some of you guys know I currently own Ornates, Endli's, and Senegals. Can you guess what they are? I will give you a hint. Its a lower jaw :D I have bought two and it was not cheap! Pics to come soon!

Damn your good lol. Took you all of 5 seconds to work it out lol. Yeah so I picked up two 4 inch Laps. These guys are currently in my grow out tank with my small ornate. So guys now the next question is what can you guys who have kept laps tell me about them? How's their growth rate compare to the ornate and endli? Are they aggressive at all to any other bichir's or is it just ornates that can be dicks? Do they grow just a few inches smaller than endli's? Can you guys post some pic's of yours? :) Both of mine seem to have very different patterns which is cool. Can't wait till they start packing on some size.

Growth rate should be the same as any lower jaws, if cb it might grows slower after it hits 9"-12", i actually find laps to grow alittle slower than endlies.
For aggression, laps a nots aggressive at all, most endli and ornate are much aggressive.

Sorry i dont have any more current pictures of my laps, but i still have some on my phone, i hope this helps

Thanks mate yeah it really does help. Good info and nice polys, cool patterns on the laps. Hmm If the growth rate is alot slower with laps I feel like it will be a long time before I can put my new laps in with my endlis.

There are a ton of pics here:

I can't remember if you're keeping your Senegal in with the other polys...? It really shouldn't be, long-term - snack risk. ;)

For now I am keeping the 3 sens in with the endli's and ornates. The sens are pretty fat though so I'd be surprised if something happens. I will continue to monitor though and as the endli's get to a point where they could swallow the sens if they wanted to I will prob move the sens to another tank I have.

A lot of lap variants on the market but have seen a few CB 'Koliba' being sold at the size you got. Wonder if that is what you got? Looking forward to pictures of your new little monsters.

After looking at Magpie's link the patterns on the laps do look like Koliba or Guinea variants. I'm at work now but I will try to get some pics when I get home.
