Nice and very quick progress Mo. At what age do you estimate you might be able to tell if there are any abnormal fry?

I honestly don’t know. Thought about it. The eyes of fry are disproportionately large to the rest of their body. I’m going to watch that first. If it’s albino, they’ll be pink. Barring that, pigmentation is visible at a quarter inch. The challenge...I think...is them surviving. Pretty sure they’ll be the first ones “kicked off the island.”

With fish like discus and angels, albino fry are pretty much noticeable right away. They tend to be weaker and nearly blind at birth, so they tend to huddle near the bottom or swim around aimlessly. To get them to eat you basically have to drown them in brine shrimp because they seem to have a hard time seeing and hunting them down.

In fish that have both albino and normal fry, the groups look different very early on. You should be seeing differences already. Is it possible maybe they’re not albino but leucistic instead?

Anything is possible. I'm just going to wait and see...and enjoy the ride. This keeps the fun in the hobby IMHO.

Nice divider, does it just slide up and out?

Yes. I came up with that design twenty years ago. Industrial strength suction cups attached with a stainless head and lack cap. Literally have to pry them off the glass. Immovable.

Fry are still alive. I've been dimming the tank lights and using a flashlight to examine the fry. I might be wrong...I was wrong once...LOL...but some of the eyes are reflecting back much lighter than the rest. I hope that's a good sign.

Cool beans! You got to pull them quickly before natural selection takes place

I don't think it needs to be said again, but gorgeous fish and pictures Mo, as always. :D
