Help dovii

Need help to i.d male and female dovii going to get some today . Thier only about 2 inches so anything that could help me thanks

Going to be difficult to sex at 2”. If they’re in a group try to find ones with dots on the upper half of the body and in the fins. Males will have them, females will not.

At that size that’s about the only thing you might notice. When they are larger colors are different as well along with a few other slight differences but you won’t be able to tell any of that until 3-4”+ when they are sexually mature

Best advice is to buy a group of 6 or 8 and grow them out a bit. Pick your favorites or a possible.pairing.

Bigger ones will usually be males. Also spangling on the unpaired fins =male.

The upper half of the body, all along the back of the fish and up to the dorsal fin. (top fin).

The upper half of the body. All along his sides back and up to his top fin. (Dorsal fin). But to be honest at 2inch these characteristics won't be showing. Same as the spangling in the unpaired fins. Best to get 6 and grow them out with loads of hiding places. Before you know it they will be pairing up.

I've raised a few but i was only able to sex when they are about 5" - 7" as females lighter lighter kinda yellowish in color. Really hard when small.
