Catfish for a pond?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
From the channel cats I've seen, and the ones I've caught, they'll easily get big enough to eat a full grown oscar. If your interested in a native catfish, look into some species of bullhead, they stay relatively small though

We could use a little more details on the pond,is it indoor or outdoor and how deep?If outdoor most of the fish mentioned may not even be able to be seen in the pond.I didnt specify with my pick but an albino channel would be easy to view looking down upon from above although as mentioned it could outgrow and eat the other fish.

The OP is from the Bahamas, so a tropical catfish might be appropriate.
But nothing so large that it could eat the oscar, also remember it will be seen from above, not the side so side and bottom coloration, are basically moot.

But the pond will probably be dark depending on it's depth which was why I said that those fish will be hard to be seen when looking down upon.

I don't know much about this catfish but the shovelnose looks nice from above, probably would still eat the Oscar though
A tiger shovelnose would be nice but yes, very dangerous to the other fish.

There's always big pleco, probably a royal pleco would look nice from above, big waste producer though
Yeah and some rays would be neat and then there are always some nice brightly colored koi but that's getting away from what he wants.I'm not sure just what is available or even allowed to be kept in the Bahamas.I have spent time there but I don't recall ever seeing any aquarium shops while there.
