How would these fish look like in a community tank?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You don't need a wave maker or even lights for the tank. (I still wouldn't trust a severum with shrimp) Just make sure you don't have a canopy, and the room is well lit with either sunlight or room light.
Yea i will work with that for now, and when i hit it rich (Or get hired for once) I will get them USA lights.

BTW vampire get from 4-6 inchs, Do you think they are safe?

I suggested the red shoulder because they are pretty in my opinion and are supposed to be a little bit less aggressive. Personally I have kept greens and gold, did not find either to be too aggressive. But they were with large cichlids, not small community fish.

The lava rock you buy at home depot etc. they sell then for barbecues. I'd just buy a big ol' bag and use as much as you can fit in there.
i understand i am pretty much pushing it over the cliff, but since my shrimp are bigger then a dwarf pike, could I 2? 3-inch long MAX

I mean, you upped the number of cichlids from what I had recommended. I kept a bamboo shrimp with dwarf cichlids like blue ram, and he was fine, but with larger cichlids like uaru, severum, he might get eaten. Not sure if they will eat big crustaceans. My old Oscar used to tear apart crayfish though.

Honestly Oscars are a different story, but cichlids are unpredictable, should i add 2 piks, i wont if you tell me its a bad idea

Yes Oscars are a different story, but both are large SA cichlids, so might make sense that they would both eat crayfish.
Honestly the last list you posted, is a bit heavier than I would stock myself. So, I wouldn't recommend adding anything to it.

Just wondering, what can you tell me about a sump, my one is odd for a freshwater set up it being the dual overflow trigger crystal

my knowledge of sumps is pretty basic, I usually use canister or HOB on my tanks. If you post another thread in the setup & filtration section, I bet lots of people will help you configure the sump
