Are buttis as good as a MidasCan't really beat an amphilophus male for a wet pet. Wolf fish look like they fit the bill too.
Most CA cichlids, adult males at least, will beg for food etc. if comfortable in the tank.
Don’t really think I can do salt water as I can’t have a sumpPair of niger triggers, or even a small school, ours used to shoot jets of water out the tank to let us know they were hungry
