More deviation from fish related content. What happened to the Joey who built tanks and talked fish? I feel for him, but after that Taylor Nicole Dean thread, I see he gets away with this because he's been around forever and is a guy. This is something she would do. Aimless pattering about stuff that isn't fish. Only she (and solid gold ) gets ripped for it, while Joey, being a guy, is praised. (Another comment on sexism.)

Yes like you say they are. Working LP and HR I've done training in those fields. There is truth in the story for sure there is true remorse in the store for sure. But there is also "story" and embellishment in the story. I dont know where the two are and where they seperate though. I dont know how laws work in Canada either and why they would drop the case without the witness. There is enough evidence to convict or at the very least proceed. So that is where I start calling b.s. I could be wrong and have been before I am human. I agree that in his telling of this story I have actually lost a bit of respect for him not gained any. Its not because he has a bad past alot of people do. He could have told the story without the specifics that he did use after saying he was leaving out others he could have left out all spacifics.
He could have just said I was a bad kid. I was in and out of jail. I didnt graduate because of it . A sparkling moment in my life made me change we had kids I realized I needed to provide for them I needed to change. My wife got me a fish tank or tell that part of the story. I got my ged and now I'm a successful YouTuber. Like I said I dont know I really dont wish him ill I just think it was unnecessary to go into detail and or embellish the way he did. Somethings just dont add up and make me more onguard about him. Trust me ive had people break down and tell me terrible things and I believed them. It was truth and realized they were trully regretful and those moments look kinda like that video, but there are untruths there too. I think the more I see the more he becomes a conman a shister a grifter.
Because sensationalizing something, anything gets views, likes, comments, subs... He knows exactly what to do and say and his fans snap it up like Cichla temensis. He is a buff dude and many of his fans are women who fantasize about him setting up DIY stands for their betta bowls with his big strong biceps...

I believe that he has been through some rough times and good on him, respect to him for rising above... But the embellishment, the sensationalization, the "YouTubing" of the story is still there. And his fans/apologists will fight you tooth and nail to defend him as someone who can do no wrong.

OK, so you watched a video entitled 'Aquariums saved my life (emotional).' with a thumbnail that said '3 years in prison' and 'arrested for attempted murder' and thought it was going to be a tank build? Curious.

Joey has been asked many times to share his back story, a cursory glance through the comments on many of his video's would tell you that.

No, I didn't expect a tank build, in fact I didn't know what to expect. I don't even look at the majority of his videos so i had no idea that he had some kind of chequered past that his subscribers wanted him to come clean about, i've genuinely never heard that before.

If he did "come clean" because of a load of nosey sods then more fool him. It was obvious he struggled to talk about it, why would you put yourself through that? Or maybe, as others have pointed out, he thought it would be a very shrewd way of raising his profile even more, and in the process getting more subscribers.

Everyone's going to have their own opinion on this one. The threads only just got into its 2nd page and i'd say it's split down the middle.

I have to say that after seeing his video I respect him even more for talking about his past like that. The fact that he brought it up and mentioned being depressed really struck a cord for me. I guess the video means different things for different people. You really can’t judge a book by its cover, you have no clue what someone’s past was like and where they came from. I think people are too quick to jump down his throat. The fact that he said he wants to be viewed as a equal and not be looked up to was really respectful. Cuddos to the king.

I'm not here to beat up on him. But I also dont believe it totally. IF its true then he is not 100% remorseful or sorry it happened or for what hes done. Why do I say this? Its how at the end he says the main witness was not able to be found so he is infering that he did something to make that happen. Either through intimidation or murder......
And the thing about wanting to be equal no there is a video out from aquapros I think that he ends up being in for a min because they are at some party all the fish youtubers are going to. In that min he is as arrogant as I've ever seen and its all about him so......Ill see if I can find it and link it. Later..... at work now.

lol Joey reached a million followers all on his own. He didn't need to post this story because of views or more subscribers and definitely didn't do it for that. If anything, he took a risk posting it because of what people may think and possible unsubscribe. He stated his fans are the reason he is where he is at so felt like he should share some of his past with them and how he got to where he is today.

Anyone hating on a man that is clearly getting emotional telling a story about his past and how he got into the hobby that made him today is quite frankly pathetic. Like it was stated before, if you only like him for the DIY projects he makes then noone MADE you click on the video that was clearly not about any of that.

Props to the King

I doubt he doesn’t feel remorseful for what happened... he was clearly upset and emotional telling the story about what happened. I’d say that inferring that he murdered someone so they don’t show up in court is a bit of a stretch to say the least.

Taylor Dean gets way more views than him.
