lol Joey reached a million followers all on his own. He didn't need to post this story because of views or more subscribers and definitely didn't do it for that. If anything, he took a risk posting it because of what people may think and possible unsubscribe. He stated his fans are the reason he is where he is at so felt like he should share some of his past with them and how he got to where he is today.

Anyone hating on a man that is clearly getting emotional telling a story about his past and how he got into the hobby that made him today is quite frankly pathetic. Like it was stated before, if you only like him for the DIY projects he makes then noone MADE you click on the video that was clearly not about any of that.

LOL I’m not hating on him. Like I said, he played the YouTube game and is winning! I’ve followed him for a long time and I actually build my stands based on his design. His focus has changed from instructional videos to... well... something else that he does in his fan-funded fish room. The only way to continue to succeed (make money) in YouTube is to evolve. He has done that. It’s a direction I’m no longer a fan of though.

Taylor Dean gets way more views than him.

Clearly she must be sexier then he is. She gets more views because she caters to the mainstream more, and again, is nicer to look at. This already fallling into Objectification.

I 100% agree. Couldn't've said it better myself. I'd be lying if I said I'd built his stands, though, but I have used filters along some of his designs, and others inspired by him.

It really comes down to being able to appeal to the mainstream, and to keep changing things to keep people interestsd, and MFK and DIY isn't mainstream. Vlogs are.
