Thats a weak arguement since its not possible to control his or her height. He or she could be a 6ft tall basketball player though.
IQ is also not something that can be controlled, what would you say if you had child that was born with severe mental disabilities and a very low IQ, maybe an IQ of 40, who couldn't even learn how to read, but he wanted to be a theoretical physicist (highest average IQ profession)?
Again your reaching at examples that do not make sense.

Any rational person would tell you to work your ass off and become a 5'5" basketball player
Yeah, but your logic is still flawed, what if you had a child paralyzed from the neck down with no hope of recovery that wanted to be a pro basketball player? Would you still tell him that he could be a pro basketball player if he tried?

So it would be best not to lead me on in my dreams of being a six foot basketball player. I realize this is a rather stupid example but people can have very stupid specific dreams.

Ahhh well that makes sense. Hope im around when he gets that nice dose of reality
Eh I’d say he is very logically sound and to be frank I’m very much interested in hearing him out in the future when it is not 5am.

OK, here is another example, what if you had a child that wanted to live to be 300,000,000,000 years old even the universe will no longer essentially exist in that time, would you tell them that they still could if they tried hard enough?

Your talking about a disability that cannot be changed, its reaching to prove a point. Both of you have based previous comments on 1Q or intelligence and im telling you the world simply doesnt work that way. Just because someone is smarter than another person doesnt mean they will be more successful or doesnt mean that person cant achieve goals that are above his or her head.

Buddy whats this persons end goal being 6ft tall or being a basketball player. If we are having a serious discussion then obviously someone cant change their height. What are we talking about ? Someones ability to achieve something like becoming a basketball player or trying to change their genetic make up ?

Buddy go to bed. Your reaching way further than your arms will allow.

Yeah, the point is that you can't achieve anything if you set your mind to it, and this has been proven. I'm not saying you can't accomplish things even if there are obstacles, but the point is, you can't do something truly impossible, even if you set your mind to it, and the same things aren't possible for everyone.

What I’m trying to acheive is showing you that sometimes when a person has a goal that is unobtainable or 99% certain to fail it’s better to tell them it’s not going to happen than to lead them on. The people that are told that they can’t do it and continue are the ones that the world needs because they are the ones likely to change the world.
