Sports, gym and fitness thread 2019

Ya my wife has started using this meal planning app and our life has changed no word of a lie. Diet is everything when it comes to fitness. If you work out but eat garbage you won’t have the energy or initiative to keep going. Now that I am eating quite regularly and mostly healthy I am not completely avoiding the gym idea.

Funny enough, taking care of the fish and making sure their diets are top notch has really given me an eye opening on taking care of myself as well.

I also understand an injury keeping you away from the gym. I tore my rotator cuff severely a few years back during an advanced breakdance class and that was about when I decided I’m not going back to the gym because I didn’t want to destroy my ability to make money over a dance class or gym pass. J jaws7777 crazy about your back, what happened?

My wife started cutting gluten out and to my amazement the food tastes better. We also dont eat red meat much.

I herniated a few discs in my lower back had surgery to repair them. I didnt listen to the dr. He wanted me to put in for a transfer or find a different career. That wasnt happening lol. I also did the same thing to my neck a few yrs prior. After the back surgery. I was obsessed with getting back in the gym and being full duty at work. Rushed it and ended up tearing the labrum in my hip and reherniating the discs in my back....done. waiting too long to address the neck and back issues probably cause permanent nerve damage. Could have been worse so....

Just had a fusion done on my neck and its not what i thought it would be. Lifting again isnt in the cards lol

Rotator cuff issues SUCK. My right one has been bad for about 6 years now, past year it's been getting worse and even starts hurting down into my bicep at times. Sometimes I can't even raise it above my head without a ton of pain. I wanted to get it taken care of this winter but with PT taking 8 weeks or more from what I hear, I'm gonna put it off till next winter. Fishing season starts in less than 2 months so I don't want to screw myself on steelhead season :)

I came off the road after a pretty major accident. My wife was injured pretty badly, femur broken in 2 places. She was my co-driver. We spent so many years on the road together, I don’t want to ride 200,000 miles a year with a stinky, probably weird guy I don’t know. I was up to 280 pounds from sitting in the driver seat for so many years and eating truckstop food. I am now delivering packages for FedEx and have lost close to 25 lbs in the last couple of months. So I guess my job is taking care of getting me back in shape. My fitbit says I’m doing about 15 to 18,000 steps per day. Big pay cut but it’s nice being home.

I lift 12oz and 20oz at a time.

Not that, I drink soda when I need sugar and otherwise tea. I really haven't done heavy weight lifting since the 90's. Everything since has been light. With my broken angle 2 years ago...can't do any legs. My transplant limits arm and upper workouts.

I tore up both shoulders the recovery wasnt that bad. You should get your neck looked at pain in the biceps can either be overworked tendons compensating because of the cuff or from the neck. My right shoulder was all healed up less than 1 month after the surgery

I started going to a new PT. All water stuff. Honestly feels great afterwards

Ya sorry about that.

I just pulled out my old book to look back at the glory days. Lol left is what I was working and reps, middle is set, and right weights. At this point I was lifting these weights solo as my typical partner pulled his pec muscle and was off for a few months. So I took some time off eventually and ended up not coming back for 3 years.
