Good bye stress bars!! He looks like he is really settling in and comfortable in his tank. He also looks very well fed. Maybe one too many buffets for this guy.....lol. If your schedule allows for 3-5 smaller feedings during the day then do that instead of one or two bulk feedings. My little 1.0-4.0 inch juveniles get feed 4 times a day. I feed at 6:15 AM before I leave for work. My wife feeds them at 11:00 AM. I feed when I get home around 4:30 PM and then one more light feeding at 9:30 before bed. Lights go off around 10:00PM. With increased feedings requires increased water changes. No worries. If your schedule only allows two feedings a day there is nothing at all wrong with that.
Thanks! Ya it’s pretty hard to feed 4 times a day. He is getting a little chubby lol. If you could look at the third pic, I noticed he had stringy poop for the first time. It’s the color of his food and not white. So I don’t think anything internal. Should I be at all worried or could it just be overfeeding?
Don't worry, 2 times a day is enough; with 4 times a day one risks over-feeding unless they give really small amounts. In any case frequent water changes come with heavier feeding as MMM says, your FH will love you for them.
Could be from over feeding. Often times when you see that stringy poop like that its the lining of their stomachs. That can be caused by over feeding. Its when they stop eating and they have stringy, pearly white poop where you have to be concerned about a stomach infection. Your guy doesn't have that so don't worry. You don't want their stomachs to look like a marble is in it. You want your fish to have a slight rounded out stomach to know they have eaten a good amount.
Ohhhhhhh the Bug Bites food is amazing!!! I have seen incredible growth rates with that food. And the Color Enhancing Formula is perfect for small fish because its easy for them to eat and less work for you having to break it up. The only thing I hate about that food is how fast it sinks. Only feed a few pieces at a time to make sure your fish is eating it before it sinks to the bottom and slips into the gravel where it can start to rot and create water quality problems. Yes its a little more expensive, Im not sure what you pay for it, but honestly when I buy a 4.4 oz. at $12.00 thats a huge win for me. It is a bit expensive overall but what I see in growth from this food I am ok with the extra money to buy it. Great product. I also love Grand Sumo food. There are a ton of Fake Foods out there that are made to look like grand sumo but are not. They are just counterfeits. I buy my Grand Sumo in Brooklyn and the stuff is the real deal. I get 550grams from my friend's shop for $20.00. Cant beat that!! And its the real food. But anyway, Bug Bites is an incredible food. You will have great growth rates from it.
He loves that food. This past probably two days he’s gotten more aggressive feeding. He chase down a piece of food quickly. It’s fun to watch. I also have to complain about how fast they sink. I was just thinking that today. I’ve been sticking the tips of my fingers in the water everyday. Each time he’s been getting closer to my fingers. Maybe he’ll hand feed soon. Sadly going back to college so will only see him on some weekends. At least he’s coming with me next term.
