Cool Mystery Fish

Just got a reply from my fish shop friend -- he has this Channa Barca at his shop in Bangkok; price he initially offered was 55,000 Thb (~US $1,760 -- about $200-400 more than I paid for each of my 2 Malaysian Gold Xback Aros, and about the same price as a high quality 10"-11" Super Red), though I reckon it could be negotiated down somewhat. But again personally not really interested, awesome as the fish is.

Esp. at this price it suggests even more that captive breeding efforts have been successful at least to some degree, so perhaps we'll see more and more on the market in not too distant future (and it would be a positive example of how the aquarium hobby can help save some species from possible extinction).
Well I really like the look of these Indian snakeheads barca or not. I don't see why the Barca would be difficult to breed in a pond.

Barca is not a sh it’s a unicorn. It’s only banned because it’s so damn rare in the wild. And people feed it pellets all the time

I was curious about the pellet comments. I had two (not barca) when i was a kid, they at pellets and FD krill.

Total savages though. Killed almost every fish i had

I had a snakehead for about 2 days. When I was about 13 and working at a fish store. I would try all kinds of fish.
It was a wicked fish. Couldn't keep it with anything. The store kept it in the main huge tank. Pacus, knives, eels etc. Probably too many large fish for it to get real vicious. And the tank was about 600 gal.

The interesting thing about snakeheads is that all of that hysteria over them ended up being a total flop.

Snakeheads are some interesting fishes. Ive kept a couple of species and currently keeping C. Asiatica. Been thinking of keeping micropeltes. Barca is a dreamfish but they are still to expensive here. A mated pair was for sale for 5500euro some while ago in germany but thats to much cash for my taste.
