Im absolutely getting one.

Snakes are a significant source of rodent control. I'll take snakes over mice and rats every single time. Plus, I just think snakes are super cool!

Not me. Gimme dirty subway rats over snakes any day of the week.

Guy about 6 houses down said his dog just got bit by a water moccasin.

Haha.....you sound like my mother in law.She is terrified of snakes and won't step foot in my backyard because of the tiny brown snakes that live there.
Think indiana jones.... i friggin hate the things. When i was a kid i had a bunch off them. But somewhere along the way things drastically changed.

Kinda like how I was....as a kid I used to capture and collect all sorts of insects but now most bugs disgust me.

I have them running around in my basement. The wife hates em but I don't mind them for some reason.

They're some killers and super fast. The way they move creeps me out but they're hell on spiders & waterbug roaches

This says moccasins are aggressive. Also notes that some people react more to venom of snakes than other people.

This appears to be a good article. It goes into depth a bit. The more knowledgeable you are the better. If someone goes to a hospital with a bite it's best if you know what the doctors should be doing. Don't assume they know what they are doing.

It also makes you wonder if the guy that died from a bite in Alabama recently actually died due to the antivenom.

I figured the dog would now be dead.
Probably would depend on how much venom the snake had decided on delivering, and how fast the antivenom was delivered.
I've read that young snakes are deadlier, since they are inexperienced, and tends to deliver the maximum amount of venom to it's victim.
