The nuchal hump in FH originates from A. citrinellus, a fish that originates from harder water with higher pH values. This is why I believe FH peeps feel that one can get more bang for their buck keeping todays FH strains in higher pH values. Then again many FH keepers are nucking futs. lol

That’s a FH in a community tank! No aggression but he’s also blind in one eye.

That said I personally feel higher PH helps more with regards to better coloring and overall health than with hump size. Given esp. what you say about A. cintrinellus a higher PH might help some, but a bigger hump is likely more dependent on genetics and diet, which I'm guessing would be your thought too.
I Don't want a dovii. Tank is too small but i was looking for a catfish or something to keep the bonsai busy.
