Aurantimaculata don't burrow in tunnels, but barcas do tunnel, basically occupy bee eater bird abandoned nests.i figure if you can breed auranti you can breed barca.

Really, afaik they're still being sold to China from india, they're being fished at such a pace, that now we even see 4-5" specimens for sale.my barca supplier says theyre bred in china already. thats where he gets them from

Well thats still better then 1500usd for a large specimen. I would love to keep barca in the future but for now im enjoying my rabbitpair of asiatica. The have released three batches of eggs in two months now.Nearly 400-500 usd
