This is going to be bitter sweet...

Lil Mon will be going to his new home tomorrow. I’m going to be sad to see him go, but I know it’s for the best. It’s been way too long and I haven’t been able to give him a bigger tank.
His new owner runs a fb group I’m in so I’ll still get to see him grow up. That will make it a bit easier knowing I’ll get to see how he develops still.
He is 4 1/4” long now.

I know! I’m still preparing myself to say goodbye.
I don’t think he is on here, but I’m sure I’ll be able to pass along pictures of him as he grows.

He is a beauty! Sorry to hear of you having to part ways with him. However, you have his best interest at heart. Your one of the few good fish parents so be proud of that!

MrsE88 did you ever receive any updates from the new owner of this fish? I know we had talked about your female Jade s few days ago, she sparked my interest in white/silver saums. So today, I made a trip to a lfs just to see what they had in stock and to buy some food(no intentions on seeing anything I liked). They had 3 silver saums!!! I spent maybe 30 minutes straight looking at all three trying to determine genders. I picked(what I think) to be a female, but it’s so hard to determine at such a young age and one other looked promising too, so I bought them both. As they grow I’m sure at least one is a female, and if they both are I will only be keeping the nicest one. If I do happen to get a male and they turn out looking nice then I may set up a tank for just them alone. Your fish and their offspring are by far the prettiest I’ve seen anywhere though

Thank you, that is very kind of you to say. And congratulations on your find! I only just popped on here so I don’t know if you have done so already, but I’d love to see a grow out thread on your end additions

I do see updates on this guy pretty frequently. Once or twice a month. Sadly the last post I saw he plans to sell him and the female he has been spawning with. I’d love if another member in the group would buy them. It’s just been nice seeing him as he grows. But I understand people’s interest changes overtime, so it’s nothing I’m truly upset over. I’ll have to go back and find a recent picture of him

MrsE88 that would be great to see an updated picture of how he turned out! I read your thread on Oliver early this morning and man is he gorgeous! The two I got yesterday were being held in a tank with some bigger Red Devils and Jack Dempsey’s so they have some fin damage. I plan to Stewart a thread soon though. Here’s a picture of them both last night after acclimating. They are still finding their spot in the pecking order as of right now

MrsE88 he looks very good!! Do you think he’ll develop that taller body and a nuchal hump like Oliver? That is a very pretty female as well!
