Electric Blue Jack Dempsey Growth Journal

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
that fish is so cool looking, great pics.. looked better and better as it grew too

whats the fish behind it?
That is a Platinum JD female, one of his many wives. I think YankeeJack YankeeJack has breed him with 5 to 6 different females now.

I will be watching this one for sure. I have a soft spot for JDs. Here is a tread of a pair I had for about eight months.
The pair was an EBJD male and std JD female.

The male went on and joined YankeeJack YankeeJack 's Platinum JD breeding project. I believe he is still alive and at last posting was 10 inches long. This May he will be three years old.

Nice thread! I will be following. ? I've had my EBJD about 1 1/2 years now. Will be interesting to see the growth rate of yours. How are you measuring it each month? Are you estimating thru the glass or actually pulling it and measuring with a tape measure?
Here's a recent pic of mine. I'm thinking female but not sure. She's about 6- 6.5".

Lovely looking with beautiful fins - and I agree I think female too. Was she a more solid blue when she was younger? I've noticed they retain a solid blue colour to various different extents as they grow.

She had some black speckling. Here's a pic of when she was younger and one from about a year ago. Then she went dark for awhile and is now getting her color back. But I think that's a common phase for these guys. She seems happy and healthy in the 135 gallon and is at the top of the chain in there. There is a sev and 3 ctenos but everyone gets along very well.

I take my earlier opinion back, it looks male. Especially in that second photo. Very long fins and a defined jaw line. Anyone else agree?
