COTA has 11inch Piebald Midas Males for $100 dollars meeting the minimum requirement for shipping. I bet they are amazing fish. Unboxing an 11inch out of the air cargo box has to be a trip!

Good luck, and just for the record IME the mutt Amphs, are every bit as aggressive as pure specimens. Just give them some time to build up to it. lol
I’d go for Red tiger motas. Imo they’re probably the most beautiful cichlid out there (sorry Festae lovers, they’re a close 2nd

funny those were some of the first I considered but the more research I did for people looking for wet pets and personality, amphs keep coming to the top. I will give it to you though the RTMs are beauties.
got a meeting set up with the breeder to go tour his amphs and pick up some fry this weekend. Should be fun

Amphilophus are fun, I'm sure you won't be disappointed if you go that route.
If I personally had this tank free, I'd probably go for Beani, Istlanum, or Grammodes. Start with a small group and grow out a pair or even just an alpha male. Just some personal favorites.
