Best Large Cichlid for 135 gallon

Thanks Gourami Swami Gourami Swami . Those are some great species. Fortunately for me I've found a local breeder of amphs so that's going to probably be the best way for me to do this. I don't have access top any good lfs and the hobby isn't that strong in this area. So it's either order or go with this breeder. I'll count myself fortunate that a breeder of this quality is local. I've loved beanis for some time though

In my area Im fortunate to have a couple decent fish stores within a 30 minute drive. Also I can order from Wet Spot and its only like $28 to ship since it is just the next state down from me. Or if I really want I can drive two hours to Portland and go to the store directly. Helps that there a few other hobbyist in my area interested in cichlids. This can be a tough hobby if all you have are stores like Petco and Petsmart and your taste is for things they dont carry. Lots of ordering fish online...

If you were local to me, you would be more than welcome to some of my midas. Granted my babies daddy are nowhere near as cool as the ones your getting.

If i were local I'd definitely take you up on it. Yeah we do actually have a really nice LFS here but the jerks will not do special orders. I've went in multiple times when selling my fish and they always say "We always buy fish from you but you never buy any from us" and my response is "if you kept fish i was interested in or were more willing to do special orders that would change". I don't know what their hangup is. I also have a lot of doubts where they get some of their fish. I've been stung by them in the past as far as quality goes and some of the questionable decisions they make in their store arrangement and fish placement. So they are kind of a last resort or when I'm just looking for something easy to find like swords or common cichlids.

I've had pretty good luck though ordering from places like trinsfish, imperial, and tuic (haven't ordered yet from the new owner but it seems like he's keeping a good stock up). I wouldn't have hesitated in ordering from tuic or cota but just so happened to have a breeder close so why pay the extra?

Well I'm still going to the breeder tomorrow but just happened to stop by petsmart today and took this little one home. He/she is in a 20 long QT right now. So many compliments about these petsmart midevil mutts I figured i'd try one. Loved the coloration on this one.

Them bright red lips tho....

To bad I already used the name "Hotlips"

If you're willing to keep single, or pair, there are tons of options here. You're only real limitation is the 18" width.
