Red Tiger Mota in new tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think people are too quick to call juvenile parachromis hybrids and personally see no traits from managuense or the other P species. Looks just like a young freddy (loisellei) to me.

I agree that people are too quick to call juvenile parachromis hybrids but I’ve seen a lot of loisellei juvenile and adult and this fish shows little resemblance besides being a parachromis but I agree with the above it looks more managuensis than anything maybe a hybrid though.

The black spotting on the lower half of the body in this picture is like every other scale and almost equal in size .

Now if you look at the picture from the OP, the black spotting looks more irregular and seem to smear right into each other. A clearer picture of the side would help a bit.

Yeah I agree most people are quick to call any juvenile parachromis a hybrid, Most don’t look the same even as juveniles from the same batch

I’ll try and get a better pic later on but I can guarantee there’s no managuense in there, the structure of the body and jaw has no resemblance to a jag in any way

I am no authority on parachromis by any means, but right off the bat it looks too yellow to be a jag.

Then again some of the different loisellei catch locations vary in looks pretty drastically so it could be loisellei or maybe not. I think we need a couple more pics of that female.

So I finally got a pic but still not a very good one, I have no light I’m the tank yet so bare with me lol
