New Bargain Project - What Would You Do With It?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would have to try some type of high waterfall feature on that back wall.

That looks really nice. Crypt parva stays relatively small if the hair grass idea does take off. I enjoy watching white clouds. A dwarf gourami would go well with them.

These are all nice stocking ideas. I'd actually really love to have a koi betta to go with the miniature pond theme... but sadly being unheated its currently sitting at 65F this time of year.

With the temperate temperature in mind - I'm leaning towards white cloud mountain minnows atm. But I want the plants to fill out and get it looking exactly how I want it before adding fish.

Its just a bit if fun and hidden in the study - so no rush to stock it :)

So.... I've had a massive change of heart with this one. I just wasn't feeling it, didn't like the fact I wasn't using the height and frustrated by the very small water volume...

So ill be putting an update up in a few days which will include plastic guttering and 20ish gallons of water instead of the 7ish gallons of before! Its also been upgraded from an unbranded mini filter to a fluval U3!

Cork bark has been put to use in the leopard gecko vivarium :)

Looked great, excited to see what you've done with it now. I would agree not using that back wall is not the right way to do this tank, need a fully fabricated jungle wall with live plants!
Unfortunate that it's open top, some sort of amphibian or reptile would have been interesting. But plants and fish still very cool. Big fan of paludariums!

So... an update. Some imagination will be required (imagine the creeping jenny spreading and becoming one thick matt that then drops down).. also thinking of adding some English ivy to the sides for more aquaponics to go with the lucky bamboo. Basically... its a working progress.

It now holds 75 L (just under 20 USG) as a true volume after substrate etc. The riparium structure was made so as to maximise the true water volume but still look nice from above. A fluval U3 filters it through 7-8 time per hour. Temp is a steady 18C /65F and that's the lowest it'll go as we're presently in winter with the central heating on. This will be an unheated / temperate tank.

I wanted this tank to be simple maintenance and all about the fish on display. Currently undecided on whether to have a single fancy goldfish (pearly white) or to have 18-20 golden white cloud mountain minnows...

I’m thinking minnows, danios, and some hillstream loaches would be nice.
Seems too small for a goldfish (really all tanks are).
