I don’t think the OP. Meant to be offensive based on their other replies but it could be interpreted that way, If duanes reacted badly then the thread would have turned into an argument.

An extremely important point has arisen here and is a great example of "arsey" working both ways. I read that thread and duanes overlooked some information that the OP had supplied, and being the true gentleman that we all know duanes to be, he immediately acknowledged this and apologised. On that occasion there was never any doubt, due to duanes apology, that the thread was even remotely going to turn into a savage war of words.

However, it doesn't always play out like that. I've seen it time and time again over the years where someone gets involved in a thread, maybe a few posts or even pages in, and doesn't read what's gone before, and then go and give some advice blindly. The OP gets all shirty, there are no apologies, as in duanes case, and the thread becomes a shouting match.

If you are going to get involved in a thread at least show the OP the common courtesy of reading their posts before offering advice or criticism, or just plan on being rude to them, because if you don't then YOU yourself can quickly make yourself look a complete arse.

If that was aimed towards me then I’ll totally accept it but I started this to call out them arsey peeps and if I can give some sarcastic arsey-ness back then I’m more then happy to do that because I’ve had it done to me in the past and it’s not nice when your looking for a little advice when your starting out

No, it wasn't aimed at you, maybe I could have worded it a little clearer.

My point is that if someone is arsey to someone because that someone didn't read through the whole thread before replying, and missed important info which had already been covered, then the OP, quite rightly imo, would have good reason to be arsey. I know I would be.

Usually it'll go along the lines of, "have you even bothered to read through this thread?" or "go back and read my post #xyz." or it can get extremely arsey with a, "what the hell are you talking about?" type comment. And BOOM, we have lift off, and everyone sits down with their popcorn.

In these instances, as I've already mentioned, it is vital that anyone taking part in a thread needs to be aware of everything that has gone on in the thread before they decided to join it, and before they potentially go and put their foot in it.

I totally agree but I do think that, that certain post could have been started with “ you may have missed “ or “ I did mention that bla bla bla “.
I have jumped to the end of a thread myself sometimes when there had been like 10 pages and just jumped into the convo so I can see what you mean and I understand that it could get frustrating when your just looking for an answer to a question

It is but people don’t like when they are called arsey for things they say and the reason is because they know they are being arsey, blunt or rude and don’t like when it’s pointed out

I'm convinced that 95% of arsiness roots in pride. Everyone always has to be right these days. And if they do happen to be proven wrong, then they must be a victim, the world is set against them. We live in an age where social interaction is more and more consisted of copouts and lack of accountability and less and less on honesty and good will towards others.

I'm happy to be wrong sometimes. It usually means I've learned something potentially valuable. For this reason I have been arsey, am currently arsey, and will surely arse again.

I think this thread should probably get moved to the lounge as it digresses further and further from aquaria. I could be wrong though. Let's go mods! I cant be doing your job for you all the time. Get your collective arses together, moot this issue of the misplaced arsiness thread, and take action damnit!
