  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
In the beginning, I was very arsey. Some members dispised me. I don’t know why I was arsey. I didn’t mean to be an arse, just wanted help and got mad. I have a very short temper lol. Also J Jim bean 20055 , you should look at some of my old posts. I was WAYYYY bad. Here is a list:

-ignorant
-ungrateful
-short-tempered
-lazy
-disrespectful

Atleast I am not to bad now. Got off probation Quick as wel!

I wasn’t mellow. I added something to a political thread. That was the Marichano Cherry on top. That political thread was shut down. I kinda used All caps, and used exclamation marks instead of periods.... I was rude to plenty of members including jjohnwm, duanes, and twentyleagues. I got Off Probation in a month or 2.

Dang your a really nice dude sorry for not sending you the koi pond picture i was busy with track

I think I may come off as "arsey" without any intention of being so. I pretty much type just like I talk, and if you were to converse with me in person, most people would find my tone sarcastic, edgy, or maybe even abrasive. I don't mean anything personal by it, I just don't do well with sensitive people.

I also enjoy a good debate, expressing my opinion openly, and learning from what others might have to say on the topic at hand. The internet used to be a safe haven for this kind of expression and free thinking...eh, I better just clam up now, probably in jeopardy of violating some rule...

I took a couple years self-imposed departure from MFK. It had really become a cauldron of noxious douche-baggery, thinly veiled authoritarian politics and a mixed bag of fish advice. I'm dipping my toe back into the water and things seem better.

The hardest thing on forums is to differentiate advice from people who really don't know what they're talking about...or who do but are just d*cks... from those who are real, experienced and competent fishkeepers. I've been keeping fish for nearly 40 years (!) and still enjoy forums like this to learn new things and get additional perspectives. I also enjoy sharing my experiences.

Great to see folks like duanes duanes around. He's the real deal :)

Matt

I know there more arsey people out there, I would like to hear from you. Why does it get under your skin when people don’t want to take your answers. surly if you are giving advice that you know is correct or going to be beneficial information to the person and it gets their back up is it not going to be better to say ok mate you crack on because it’s only going to be them that lose fish and learn the hard way.

I think that communicating via text always feels a bit dry because it lacks the human interaction (voice pitch, posture, facial expressions, etc.) regardless of the intention of the person. Also you should put in mind the language barrier, eg: what I would think is ok to say in English could turn out to be rude to native speaker, but I wouldn't know cause It aint my first language

I just think regardless of where the person may be from or what language they speak if someone new to fish keeping is asking questions then the more experienced keeper shouldn’t be rude or blunt. I remember when I first started and I found this website I was so enthusiastic and excited to learn about fish keeping I asked all the questions I could as I like to take on information and some people were just point blank rude and spoke as if I was stupid, it’s a good job I’m thick skinned and don’t let words or arsey people to get to me but others that are probably not like me and a little sensitive could have there feelings and confidence dented.
